Celebrating 80 years of CIECH Sarzyna!

CIECH Sarzyna S. A. is celebrating 80 years of existence this year. The company, today Poland's largest manufacturer of plant protection products, was formed in the year 1937 as part of Poland's Central Industrial Region. Since 2006 it is part of the industrial chemical group CIECH. On occasion of the anniversary, a festive celebration is planned, as part of which, among others, cultivated green areas in Nowa Sarzyna will be revitalised, an anniversary picnic will be arranged, and Rzeszów will host an exhibition of one of Poland's most stunning artists of the 20th century – Magdalena Abakanowicz. The 80th anniversary of the company will also see the beginning of an employee volunteer scheme at CIECH Sarzyna.

CIECH Sarzyna was formed in the year 1937 under the name NIZET. It was created for the purpose of production of nitrocompounds, the factory was to be one of many industrial plants constructed in south central Poland as part of the Central Industrial Region (Pl. Centralny Okręg Przemysłowy, COP). The construction site was chosen among forests close to the village of Sarzyna (presently in the Subcarpathian voivodeship). Due to the outbreak of World War II, the technological start-up of the company took place only in the year 1954.

Almost from the very beginning of its existence, the factory focused on production within two areas: synthetic materials and plant protection products. In the year 1962, at the plant, manufacture of the technical agent MCPA and its usable forms was started, and the trade name Chwastox was introduced – Poland's first original plant protection product. In the first half of the 1970s, in turn, the factory saw the start-up of experimental production of epoxy, polyester and phenol-formaldehyde resins.

Following numerous expansions of the factory, investments in new technologies and product research, the plant became to a great extent the driving force behind the development of the economy in today's commune of Leżajsk. An entire city emerged around the plant – Nowa Sarzyna, to get town privileges on January 1st, 1973.

After the year 2000, the company was continuously modernised and upgraded. Numerous investments were transferred into use, as new or upgraded production lines. Among key investments must be noted the grand projects from the years 2013-2014, meaning, the transfer into use of a new production line for two active agents for plant protection products: MCPA and MCPP-P (one of two largest systems of this kind in the world), the start-up of the glyphosate aminisation system and the expansion of the system used to manufacture saturated polyester resins). In the year 2016, CIECH Sarzyna introduced to the market a series of products for the treatment of home and recreational gardens – ZIEMOVIT.

We invite You to celebrate the 80th anniversary of CIECH Sarzyna together with us at the picnic in Nowa Sarzyna on June 10th. The participants will enjoy numerous attractions and a concert by Poland's valuable and respected star, Natalia Nykiel.
