An annual plant, the green field-speedwell feels at home best on fresh and rich soils that are not too acidic and have a sufficient content of nutrients, especially nitrogen. It enjoys the closeness of cereals and root vegetables, to which it may become dangerous if exhibiting too much pressure. It has a stem that trails along the ground and may become erect on its end. It can grow to a height of 30 cm. It branches out significantly. The plant is yellow-green in colour, and has quite small four-petalled flowers that are initially off-white and then become blue.
The green field-speedwell blossoms between March and October, so, the flowering period is long. It is a threat to the development of the crop if given too much freedom to grow. In its case, mechanical control measures are ineffective. Recommended are spray treatments with properly chosen herbicides.
